Hi, I’m Tahlia Newland. I love steampunk masks and all things steampunk which is why you’ll find so many steampunk masks for sale here, as well as steampunk accessories like collars, necklaces and hats. I’m really a steampunk mask specialist, making masks and steampunk accessories for masquerade balls, weddings, proms, mardi gras, cosplay and walls. I also love the Gothic and renaissance era aesthetic, so you’ll find those influences in my work as well. Please, come on in and take a stroll around my shop.
Though I’m now an author and editor as well as a mask maker, I’ve always been an artist. I majored in Art at Teacher’s Training College in New Zealand and began making masks for the visual theatre company Centrepiece Productions back in 1980 when I moved to Australia. Back then it was called Mr Jupiter’s Children’s Theatre and Jupiter Theatre (for adults). When the company ceased producing performances in 2003, I continued to create masks for my own pleasure and to sell to schools for their drama programs.
Until 2008 when I set up Tahlia’s Masks, I sold my masks as Centrepiece Productions Masks. My steampunk accessories developed from my love of steampunk clothing which I wear most days. Why? Because beautiful clothes deserve to be worn.
